It’s that time of year again, Menswear fashion week has graced the streets of London. Day one offered a delightful taster to tickle the tastebuds of the Menswear fashion talent that’s around.

Even though there was a plethora of designers showing, I’ve decided to pick a few to showcase what’s coming up on the menswear menu for SS14. And I’d liked to start by taking you west with ‘Topman Design’.

Topman Design embraced their inner cowboys for next summer’s collection taking embroided shirts and western florals as their key look. Western styling has been done numerous times and over a great many collections, (I do believe we have only just shaken off the hold of check shirts!) But not in time to review our John Wayne persona from a different angle.

There are many elements I enjoy about this collection but I think my overall favourite is the simplicity of the collection. The styling of the range is wonderful, really great cut trousers throughout the whole show has created a staple uniform piece, (I WILL have these in my life!) The textiles are so luxe and so rich it gives a really expensive vibe to the range.

My only concern… It’s going to be one hot summer wearing silk, but hey! Who needs practicality when you’re wearing designer?

For our next designer we’re going ‘throwback’ to an 80’s fashion flash through the eyes of Jonathan Saunders. And in my attempts to remain modest throughout all my reviews I would like to say… I loved this collection! Wow. To be truthful, there isn’t anything overly innovative about this collection, but it does go to show that the right use of cut and colour creates just as much visual aesthetics as the whacky and wonderful.

I was instantly captivated by the Scottish designer’s colour palette of green, yellow and orange being combined with digital print and jackets with shine. Topped off with a fantastic range of accessories and footwear, I will happily be embracing my inner Beastie Boy for spring/summer.

I couldn’t write a post and not show you some of the more adventurous works of London Menswear and it would appear the best choice is within the collection of Astrid Anderson. Astrid Anderson is never shy on the runway. Through early works showing as part of the MAN show (Check out other highlights to this collection) she has always been strong and confident in her work and it has always been received with interest and curiosity.

Astrid (once again) hasn’t shyed away from her style taking her concept of sportswear to a different level. Even as a HUGE fan of urbanized sportswear and a big promoter in the look I would have to admit that some of the looks were for the more adventurous. The collection included a fitted netting body top and leggings, a two piece floral tracksuit, a crushed velvet matching top and bottom set and final a top which just covered your shoulders. But to compensate I loved the opening look with the netted shoulder and Calvin Klein-esque crop tee and trousers!

This collection won’t appeal to everybody but why should it. It is a collection of substance and signature and maybe most people wouldn’t rock this to the gym… But there will be a mass of people who will love this.

Overall, it was a great day for Day 1 and a really delicious starter courses for the collections. Remember! Pull & Bear always produce great, colourful prints and this vest is no exception. It will look great with some light denim or coral shorts!

We love this playful Lolita print tee from Forever 21! On their website they also have some other icon prints of the likes of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe.

Floral prints are everywhere at the moment so these shorts from River Island will keep you looking on trend and because of the subtle design they will last you for summers to come.

Since the beginning, Mansnaps has been a site that has nurtured the latest in fashion talent, showcasing the newest designers and printers around. The latest brand for us to introduce, Dickeybow Clothing.

Dickeybow launched up North and is the creation of Leeds born graphic designer, Karl. Using his graphic design background and a simple yet recognizable back logo, Dickeybow is becoming an established brand throughout the UK.

There is a great array of tasteful colours and prints, a favourite of mine being the sunrise tee which has a really great colour arrangement. With a lot more innovative ideas in the pipeline, we’re only just beginning to see the birth of this brand and its creations.

Their latest editorial and fashion film was shot on the white isle itself, Ibiza, a fantastic opportunity that not all growing labels have the chance to experience. The shoot does feature a female model… But don’t be disheartened as the majority (if not all) the collection is unisex… Oh, and did I mention she’s very attractive?

We asked our grooming guru Adam Bennett what he thought of the style:

“I’m unsure about this look on Justin – maybe I don’t want him to grow up. It’s a bit Dicaprio which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I think it would also work better if it utilised the natural wavy texture of his hair. It looks as if it’s been straightened to within an inch of his life which again, personally, I’m not a fan of.
I say chill out a bit Justin, don’t try so hard – if you want it neater, go clean shaven. If you are thinking about a similar look, ask your stylist if it would;
a)suit your face shape
b) sit well with your hairline
c)take a lot of maintenance
For the ideal sweep a bit of blow drying would be required but not huge amounts. Old school grooming products work best in this situation so go with American Crew Pomade to give shine and hold and also helps to tame wild hair”

Primark are one of the last retailers from the high st to begin trading online (in fact their website is basic at best) despite their portfolio of stores expanding rapidly over the past few years.

The collection consists of just 14 pieces but this will no doubt grow and let’s be honest, the delivery charge is worth it just to avoid the crazy shoppers at the weekend.

These desert boots from Clarks are a classic style which has seen a rise in popularity over the past few years. To keep the style fresh, Clarks have introduced a coloured sole version which we are loving!

The bomber jacket is the jacket of the moment. There are loads of different styles on the high st but this ASOS piece is a great jacket for a night out that will look great in AW too.
